Navdanya as Social Change (a film by Sarada Eastham)
Drawings by Jens Kramer (Navdanya Intern)
This is a short video that I put together during my time at Navdanya. In it, Tej Reddy (University of Portland, USA) Sarada Eastham (University of Calgary, Canada) and Rachel Smith (University of St. Andrews, Scotland) speak about what brought them to Navdanya, why they believe in the work that Navdanya is doing and explore the meaning of social change.
Although this video clip only shows three of the fifteen interviews that I conducted (I learned a great deal about sound quality and recording through the process!) the interviews allowed me a format through which to discuss people's understandings of the world around them, the issues of sustainability and their commitment to social change. Although the language used to describe social change differed slightly, all of the respondents spoke about community connection as the essential component of creating a healthier world.
